Dear Friends, Seniors and colleagues,

I have been elected to the post of General Secretary of the prestigious Kandivali Medical Association (KMA). Before occupying this Leadership role in KMA I have taken similar Leadership roles in other organisations as well. Just till March 2025 I was the president of ISPAT ie. Indian Society for Prenatal Diagnosis and Therapy - which is a Heterogenous Society with it members being Obstetrician, Paediatricians, Paediatric Surgeons, Fetal Medicine Specialist, Radiologist, Geneticist, Genetic Counsellors, Biochemist and Pathologist from across India - all collectively working towards preventing Birth Defects. Before that I was the president of AFG ie. Association of Fellow Gynaecologists - which is an association of Gynecologists from Bandra to Dahanu.

So coming back to KMA - The motto of KMA say's it all: FRIENDSHIP AND FRATERNITY FOREVER.

We are here to create close and trusting relationship based on mutual affection, support, and understanding. Create a sense of camaraderie and unity with a shared purpose of serving our neighborhood - forever.

When I look at the past I see so many stalwarts occupying this responsible position. It makes me wonder what more I can add to their wonderful contributions? What all can we together add to their collective contributions towards KMA?

After thinking I thought what better than to stick to what we learnt in our First year in Medical School - PREVENTIVE AND SOCIAL MEDICINE

This term we will focus extensively on PREVENTION in all aspects of our life.

- PREVENTIVE HEALTH

- PREVENTIVE FINANCIAL PLANNING

- PREVENT OURSELVES FROM CYBER CRIMES

- PREVENT VIOLENCE AGAINST HEALTHCARE FACILITIES

- PREVENT WORKPLACE HARASMENT

- SAVE LIVES BY LEARNING TO BE TRAINED FIRST RESPONDERS

We will have a small capsule of 10-15 mins on some medical topic of Preventive health from experts across the world. This will be available on KMA YouTube channel.

We will train residents of Kandivali on handling day-to-day medical emergencies and train them to be a good Samaritans.

We will conduct a Basic Life Support Certificate workshop for Healthcare workers.

We shall have a Nurses upskilling program.

We will create an app for all the Doctors of KMA to alert all the nearby doctors in case of a violence like situation.

We will have training session on Prevention of Harassment at workplace.

We will have workshops on investment and financial planning.

We will have workshops on AI, Cybercrime and Social Media.

KMA will collab with other like-minded organisation to achieve common objectives.

In short we have a lot on our plate and too few hands. I invite all KMA members to be a part of the growth journey and contribute to making our neighborhood truly wonderful place to be in. If you are excited we are doubly excited to start this journey.
